Through The Year – Version 1

For Christmas, for my mom and mother in law, I did the ‘easy’ thing…calendars.

I’ll start with the calendar I did for my mom.

COVER: FAMILY

Because the calendar months only feature those with birthdays that month, I wanted the cover to include everyone, and the best way to do that was through individual family groupings.

JANUARY: WINTER’S SONG

My daughter happens to be the only birthday in January, so she graces January’s calendar.

FEBRUARY: BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME

I had cheated a bit with January. Because I was doing two calendars, I used a couple layouts twice. It saved me some time. So when I started with my Mom’s calendar I wanted to go with song lyrics. With my mother in law’s calendar I was going with simple phrases and quotes.
So with my mom’s calendar February starts with the songs. I also wanted to do non-traditional Valentine’s coloring as the only birthdays in February belong to boys.

MAY: LIVE LIFE
I was glad that I was able to do a very feminine page for May. My mom and baby girl are the only two with birthdays, so it worked out wonderfully.

JUNE: SUMMER BREEZE

My parents were married in June, so I wanted to include that in some way. I found a great template that allowed for my parents to be the main focus, but I was also able to include those with birthdays.

JULY: I HAVE A DREAM

This was another ‘cheater’ layout. Originally done for my mother-in-law’s calendar, it is one with a quote instead of a song. But that’s what happens when there’s only one birthday.

AUGUST: WHERE THE BLACKTOP ENDS
August always seems to be the last throws of summer fun and for us, it’s usually when we end up camping. It’s something our whole family seems to enjoy, so it seemed fitting to include a page about camping.

Definitely went traditional with this layout, but I enjoy Halloween and even though my mom doesn’t care for Halloween, she does enjoy seeing the grandkids in their costumes.

NOVEMBER: BLESSED

November is THE MONTH of birthdays in this family. It gets a little crazy and it was a chore to find a layout that worked well for each of the birthdays, but I worked it out.

Party On!

I was waiting a bit before posting this layout, because I had hoped to get the other side made to it before doing so – but then my dear 5 year old son deleted the digital post-it note that I had detailing my supply list for quite a few layouts. Therefore, we’re just posting them all now and praying I remember what I used…

Here’s a birthday party layout when my almost 9 year old turned 5. 4 years ago – craziness!!!

Birthday Fun

Thank goodness for my friends. If it weren’t for them, I’d probably never get any scrapping done.

My very pregnant friend messaged me last night asking if I wanted to scrapbook this morning. Of course I did. It means I have yet to clean my house, but I got a page done.

I probably could’ve done at least one more, but my friends backyard opens up into the park, so of course the kids wanted to play at the park and needed mommy to push them on the swing for 20 minutes. It was a wonderful morning.

I’ve been working my way through the pictures I have on my hard drive and that means it’s the year 2009 and I’m working my way through the months. Today’s pictures came from child #3’s 5th birthday!

Family Birthday Board

So awhile back my husband pointed me to this link. The link was a picture of the family birthday boards you see all over Pinterest now. But we saw the thing way before they all started popping up. I took note of it as a good idea for a gift and put the idea aside.

This year for Christmas, I decided it was the perfect gifts for our mother’s. They both loved it. So here are our family birthday boards:

Yes, my family is much bigger than the hubbies…He’s 1 of 3 kids, I’m 1 of 7.

I found most of my supplies at one of my favorite places, The Wood Connection. I’m sure you can find all of them at your local craft store, however. The letters I used for the months, were in my scrapbooking stash for years, same as the ribbons. The twine used I found at Target in their scrapbooking aisle. I’m too lazy to go look at the paint right now for exact colors, but if someone wants to know – I will find it.

Birthday Card x 3

So this past weekend we celebrated 3 family birthdays…3 all on the same day!

Well I kind of procrastinated making the cards, but oh well, they got done on time, but I didn’t have time to keep track of the supplies used.

I can tell you that I used the design found here though!
